On Monday, Jan 20th MOD leadership came together for a day-long planning meeting to focus on the long-term direction of the museum. The goal of the meeting was to unify our vision and collectively vote on what our priorities will be in the coming year.
Chuck Hawley led the meeting, challenging MOD leadership to think deeply about what they wanted to see in this future resource for Santa Cruz County families and what major initiatives needed to be worked on first to assure the success of the museum.
The work we’ve done so far has been a powerful start. The people involved in MOD – their talents, ideas and passion – are clearly our greatest resource, as was shown Monday by the excitement and resolve in the room. Drawing on this, MOD is excited to be moving forward with the combined counsel of some truly engaged, community-minded people.
The session could not have been such a success without the guidance and humor of Chuck Hawley. We would also like to thank Arts Council Santa Cruz County who graciously let us use their facility for the day. Lastly, we appreciate each of the 17 people who took time out of their holiday to lend their voice to our collective vision.
In the next six months, MOD will be focusing on our plans for content delivery (Just how are we doing to reach everyone Santa Cruz County that wants to get excited about learning through play?), fund development and marketing among others. We want to move forward with unified, strategic direction so we can serve Santa Cruz County the best way we can and be a sustainable, smart staple of education and play in the area.
In next week’s blog, we’ll review all of the tremendous progress we made in 2013. We have so much to be proud of! Who knows what this next year will bring?
