Infant & Toddler Workshop: Farm to Fields
Thursdays in May @11:00 am
Our Farm to Fields program will provide an open-ended sensory exploration, combined with representational materials, for infants and toddlers to explore in a safe and interesting space*
- promote your child’s language development during their activity time by building on words they already know and offering new vocabulary words related to their experience (i.e. soil, dirt, dig, shovel, seed, vegetable)
- encourage your child’s explorations by asking open ended questions and offering them prompts to think and talk about what they are doing
By investigating and exploring the connections between what they have observed in the natural world and the play with props offered:
- Infants will have the opportunity to experience sensory input, including tactile sensations, sounds, lights, and colors.
- Toddlers will pursue active investigation, imitation, and will practice developing skills, including in the areas of language, social emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
This wonderful program has been made possible by a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
*Smocks will be provided, but your children will be playing with soil so please bring a change of clothes*
