COVID-19 Information & Updates

Thank you for being prepared and concerned about public health. We will update this page with news and updates pertaining to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Santa Cruz County.

Last updated: November 10th, 2020.

We are always committed to thorough sanitization processes for our surfaces, exhibits, and toys, but we are now closed until further development of the COVID-19 situation.

These unprecedented circumstances pose severe financial repercussions for our community and MOD. As a non-profit educational organization, admissions and memberships account for less than 50% of what it takes to support a thriving museum. Please email if you would like to discuss any aspect of this closure further or are in a position to donate to MOD to help us weather these uncertain times.

  • Wonderland@ MOD will be opening their doors in the mall November 27th-December 24th, 2020. Come support two wonderful local businesses this holiday shopping season while picking up the best-curated collection of toys for the little learners in your life!

  • MOD Exhibits are closed to the public until further notice.

  • Just FYI: MOD removes all loose objects handled by visitors from the museum floor each day around 12:30 pm and switches them out with a newly cleaned and disinfected set. We repeat this process nightly, along with a full surface sterilization procedure so when we open everything is freshly cleaned. Our staff is also regularly wiping down communal surfaces with disinfecting wipes during the day.

  • Hand sanitizer is available for visitors upon entering and leaving the museum and throughout the exhibits.

  • Our event calendar will stay up to date as events are postponed or canceled. Check back before your event to confirm.

Postponed or canceled events

The following events have been postponed/canceled under recommendation from the Santa Cruz County Public Health Department to avoid non-essential gatherings for more than 10 people in order to limit opportunities for COVID-19 transmission. These seeming inconviences are in place to slow the spread of COVID-19 to help decrease concentrated demand on our hospitals.
